UNITED STATES SENATE COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY HEARING – “PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN ONLINE”

This week Raven was in Washington, D.C. again transforming our nations response to child exploitation.

On Tuesday February 14th, Raven CEO John Pizzuro, MA, CFE, testified in the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary hearing entitled “Protecting Our Children Online”, chaired by United States Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois.

“Those who would protect our youth are overburdened and under-resourced, which makes children vulnerable. Our nation’s young people are unable to escape from the bombardment of posts, reels, and online social interaction. A major disadvantage of our global society is that any offender can reach any victim, anywhere in the world, through any app or gaming platform.”

“Many police departments are swamped with reports of online exploitation of children, making it extremely challenging to proactively investigate. Children are made vulnerable on these platforms as a result of poor moderation, the absence of age or identity verification, inadequate or missing safety mechanisms and the sheer determination of offenders.”

This group of bipartisan Senators were attentive and asked quality, deliberate questions of the panelists. Raven were honored to have been asked to provide insight into the harms our children are exposed to online. It was a varied and distinguished panel and we were happy to sit alongside them.
